Movement is life
The lymphatic system is an extremely important part of the body’s circulatory system and is responsible for maintaining homeostasis by acting as a highway for nutritional fluid that supplies the organs and eliminating toxins. Circulation of lymphatic fluid is independent of the heart and relies on body movement. The system is extremely delicate and can easily become overwhelmed through injury, toxicity or illness - we often hear people stating they have swollen glands when they have a cold, this is in fact their lymph nodes. When the lymphatic circulation is compromised it can lead to various conditions such as lymphedema (swelling of the arms and legs), obesity and Crohn’s disease to name but a few.
Your appointment will begin with a case history which will help us establish the cause of the lymphatic blockage and help determine which part of the system requires the most attention. Treatment takes many forms depending on the specific needs of there individual. Typically treatment is a combination of gentle soft tissue techniques and passive articulation of the limbs which aid lymphatic return.
