Acupuncture stimulates the body to produce its own pain-relieving chemicals called endorphins, which in turn, increase immune functions and hormonal systems. The improved energy and biochemical balance produced by acupuncture results in stimulating the body's natural healing abilities and promoting physical and emotional well-being.

Once you arrive for your appointment we will go through a case history, which is an opportunity for us to talk about what has gone wrong, when and how it started and anything that will contribute to your progress. The level of questioning really depends on the complexity of your situation but rest assured the information taken during the case history is both confidential and extremely useful. During the case history you will be given information regarding what we plan to do and providing your happy we will begin treatment.

Where the needles are placed and how many are used really depends on your specific needs and what we aim to achieve throughout treatment. Typically the needles are painless. It is common practice (in other clinics) for the clinician to leave the room once the needles are placed, this practice is not something we do because we believe that the energy between the patient and the therapist is very important. Once the treatment is complete the needles are removed and we will discuss and follow up treatment or things you can do to aid the healing process.
